We’ve collaborated on some really exciting projects

Wolverhampton University - Reflections on culture project

Objective: To design and deliver a university wide “culture” review, using the University’s CARE framework of values and behaviours as a foundation, which would identify strengths, challenges and opportunities for growth and change in alignment with their 2030 vision.

Solution: Working extensively with senior leaders and colleagues across the University we designed and delivered a highly engaging university-wide approach involving surveys and workshops (in person and virtual). Through creating safe spaces and utilising a combination of qualitative and quantitative insights from key stakeholder groups and networks, we helped develop a picture of the organisation’s culture and plans for further action.

Outcomes: Building on ideas and insights from across the University we developed strategic and operational plans for immediate, medium and long-term planning.

The University of Sheffield - A tailored wellbeing strategy

Objective: To create an overall wellbeing strategy for the University co-created by and with colleagues, students and stakeholders.

Solution: We provided a diagnostic analysis Wellbeing review of the University’s current strengths. Building on this analysis we designed and delivered an “Exceptional Well Beings” event involving students, academic and professional service colleagues, members of the University Executive, members of the University board and external stakeholders to help define what wellbeing means for the University and to generate ideas for future wellbeing ideas that underpinned this.

Outcomes: Using insights and ideas from the Exceptional Well Beings event we co-created an overall University wellbeing strategy.

Northumbria University – Taking control of work and wellbeing workshops

Objective: To provide academic and professional service colleagues at all levels across the University with practical tools and insights to better understand and to support their wellbeing, resilience and approach to work. This was part of the University’s wider wellbeing strategy.

Solution: We developed workshops which explored actionable, evidence-based ideas around how to take control of your work and to bolster and boost your physical and mental wellbeing.

Outcomes: Our sessions were popular and impactful. We collected a number of success measures, and overall participants gave the sessions a score of 88% in terms of impact, relevance and benefit.

Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford – Wellbeing at work series

Objective: To support the organisation’s wellbeing programmes, by sharing new and creative ideas around wellbeing science, as well as practical steps people can take to enhance their own wellbeing.

Solution: We designed bespoke sessions for academic, professional and student audiences, which explored ideas for fostering positive wellbeing, using job crafting as a tool for growth and performance, and strategies for bringing strengths to work.

Outcomes: Feedback from attendees on a range of measures was incredibly positive, with attendees rating it 4.8/5 in terms of recommending the sessions to others. We have since been commissioned for further sessions in 2023 and beyond.

Newcastle University - Building a leadership community

Objective: To provide a series of interactive events for academic and professional service leaders focused on building a leadership community across the University and themed around emerging and current challenges and issues (e.g. making hybrid working work, fostering resiliency in yourself and others).

Solution: We developed a series of ‘just in time’ leadership sessions, the themes of which were based on feedback from leaders themselves. These sessions included evidence-based insights from Tailored Thinking and encouraged leaders to share ideas and build on the knowledge and experience of others to foster a sense of engagement amongst the leadership community.

Outcomes: Following a pilot session during the pandemic, feedback from leaders was that they valued the blend of interaction and content and that the overall design and delivery of the sessions balanced practical ideas with opportunities to share experiences and thoughts from across the University. Consequently, a series of successful events were delivered.

Russel Group University* - A positive and sustainable equality project

Objective: To develop an in-depth understanding of staff and student experiences of equality in one of their faculties, and explore ideas and suggestions for improvement in order to drive positive and sustainable change.

Solution: We provided a range of flexible opportunities for staff and colleagues to be heard and understood, through running focus groups that adopted an appreciative enquiry approach (i.e. what is working well that we can learn from, where are the greatest opportunities for change).

Outcomes: The project provided a safe and trusting environment to explore and understand a range of views, including from stakeholders who hadn’t previously shared their experiences. The project uncovered a range of themes across and within different workstreams, including a number of clear priorities for change which were incorporated into the Faculty’s action plan.

Check out some of the organisations that we’ve worked with so far.

Your organisation deserves to be on this list.

“Tailored Thinking are a pleasure to work with - open, creative, and flexible, with the experience and depth of knowledge to be able to plan structured sessions but respond to whatever is in the room (virtual or physical) on the day. Feedback we have received directly from recipients describes the impact of Tailored Thinking information sessions and workshops as “motivational”, “soul lifting”, and quite simply “brilliant”.”
